Why We Do What We Do
To many people their job is "just a job", lacking passion and fulfillment. That is not the case for those of us who work at The Smith Clinic For Physical Therapy. Our founder, owner, and Physical Therapist, Michael Smith, knows this is what God has called him to do: "Like so many others in the field of physical therapy, I was drawn to the profession by injuries I suffered while playing sports in college. After spending several weeks in therapy before and after ankle surgery, I realized the benefits of physical therapy and decided it was what I wanted to pursue as a career.
In 1996, I began practicing at Baptist Rehab in outpatient orthopedics. After four years, my wife Angie and I opened our outpatient clinic to serve a variety of injuries and conditions. My years of practice have given me the opportunity to meet many good people and understand my God-given gifts, and His calling on my life."
For our Physical Therapist Chris Markham, it was the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of hurting people that drew him into the field of Physical Therapy: "The prospect of being able to help people get out of pain and improve their quality of life was something that really appealed to me. It was only natural that I entered the field of physical therapy. Through the use of proven, hands-on therapies and the many modalities available at The Smith Clinic, I am able to address a wide variety of conditions. I find that educating patients about their condition makes a positive impact on their recovery and can decrease their chances of re-injury.”
Our goal is to empower you to be able to do the things needed to keep you healthy, and keep going in the long run. And we know that physical therapy can do that! Whether you are having trouble getting out of bed, picking up your kids, having difficulty walking to the mailbox, or any other daily tasks that you’re having trouble doing, we can help. We spend one on one time with you to ensure that we tailor to your every need. We also come up with a comprehensive plan to help you get back to what YOU want to do, which is the whole point right?
The first part of our Mission Statement is "to honor God" in what we do at The Smith Clinic for Physical Therapy. We strive to show Christ-live love and care to our patients, and to anyone who walks through our doors. Whether it's in praying for our patients or sharing Bible verses at the clinic, we hope to share the love of Jesus Christ and honor Him with our work. We give 100% each day so that your visit at our clinic exceeds your expectations, and our hope is that you notice the difference!
