Physical Therapy Is For Everyone

Are you a self described “non-athlete?” Do you subscribe to the myth that physical therapy is only for star athletes or those who have just had some kind of major surgery? Have you ever wondered, “Who is physical therapy for?” If so, we’ve got great news for you: physical therapy is for everyone.
Here is just a partial list of everyday folks who can benefit from seeing a physical therapist:
  • Factory workers
  • Elderly individuals
  • Children with obesity
  • Diabetics trying to manage their blood sugar
  • Office workers
  • People with Parkinson’s disease

Do you have a child who is struggling with their weight and has never been involved in sports? A physical therapist can help develop an exercise program to get them active in a way that they enjoy. PTs can help diabetics find ways to stay active and help keep their blood sugar in check. People suffering from progressive conditions like Parkinson’s and Multiple Sclerosis can also benefit from seeing a physical therapist for strengthening, mobility, and fall prevention.
A Body Needs To Move To Stay Healthy

Being healthy is more than just eating the right things. Having strong muscles and bones is essential for having a healthy body. Being active helps not only those things, but your heart, lungs, and brain as well. Consider this snippet on the benefits of activity to help prevent Alzheimer’s disease:
According to the Alzheimer’s Research & Prevention Foundation, regular physical exercise can reduce your risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease by up to 50 percent. What’s more, exercise can also slow further deterioration in those who have already started to develop cognitive problems. Research suggests that exercise protects against Alzheimer’s by stimulating the brain’s ability to maintain old connections as well as make new ones. Being healthy is more than just weight loss, it’s being able to do the things that you love. Many people can be limited on what they can do based on injuries, illnesses, or conditions. A physical therapist can help to educate you on your specific situation and develop an individualized program that is made to help you meet your goals. Remember, this is about you being your best.
Contact us at 901-756-1650 to learn more about how a physical therapist can help you. We will be glad to explain how we can help you meet your goals.

It's good to know that physical therapy can be helpful for everyone. My mom is definitely an elderly individual, so maybe she should look into this. I agree that she needs to keep her body healthy and strong, to fight off diseases!

I appreciate that a sports physical therapist could help someone with specific fitness programs that would be fine with their injury or condition. My husband loves to run but recently injured his kneed. I think that he should find a physical therapist to help him with the injury, and also to suggest ways he can continue to exercise while he recovers.

My father is in the early stages of Parkinson's and he is getting upset that he is losing the ability to do daily tasks. I didn't realize that a physical therapist would be able to help him regain his stability and fine motor skills. When I see him this weekend, I'll talk to him about finding a physical therapist so that he can enjoy a better quality of life.

I thought it was interesting that you mentioned your body needing to move in order to stay healthy. My friend was telling me that she was thinking about doing some physical therapy for this reason and it confused me a little. It makes sense now that I understand that strong muscles and bones is essential for having a health body.

This was a excellent informative post you ave shared on this page about the lower back bone pain relief but the Flow is an important consideration during your search for the perfect house. Is the dining room next to the kitchen or on the other side of the house? Must you take a circuitous route to reach the laundry room? Is there sufficient separation between the bedrooms and the living areas of the home? Is the garage attached? Although opinions about ideal flow and layout vary among homeowners, finding a home that offers the ideal flow for you will help you avoid regrets about your decision.
Thanks

I liked that you mentioned being healthy is more than just eating the right things. My husband is struggling with an old injury and a friend of him recommend him to assist in physical therapy. I will pass this information to him to help him understand that process.

The fireworks and loud bangs during the holiday You can also help emergency responders on the 4th by keeping the intersection of Belmont Ave and Bellevue Pl. E. clear for emergency vehicles. In recent years, the intersection has become a popular spot during 4th Festivities, which is problematic as it’s also a direct link between Lakeview and South Lake Union. Please help police keep the street clear this year.
Thanks.
